How to apply masking tape?

2024-12-16

Many sewn tiles have rough surfaces, such as matte antique tiles and shingles with fine lines on the surface. When dealing with this type of tiles, you cannot use polishing and waxing methods to create tile joints. At this time, tile jointers usually recommend applying textured paper to the tiles before applying glue, and then apply glue. construction. So why would you do that? How to correctly adhere textured paper?

Why do uneven ceramic tiles need to be covered with textured paper before construction?

1. Avoid putting masking paper on ceramic tiles: American sewing agents are very viscous, and oil-soluble sewing agents are still difficult to clean. Since the surface of the tiles is smooth, you can polish and wax it, and then use super glue to mask the texture. Put the glue on the paper immediately and fix it on it. Moreover, for tiles with uneven surfaces and fine particles, masking paper is applied on them to improve their adhesion. After the masking paper dries, it will stick too tightly and be difficult to remove. To prevent sewing compound from immediately sticking to the tiles, be sure to place good-looking textured paper on both sides of the tile gaps.

2. Convenient glue shoveling: After the tiles are constructed, a good-looking masking paper can be peeled off immediately after pressing down the seam, and then until the masking paper dries and solidifies, the operation steps are very simple and no iron is needed. Shovel. "After tiles with fine particles on the surface are affixed with beautiful textured paper, you don't have to worry about the texture being beautiful and not easy to clean. Tiles with smooth surfaces are not afraid of damaging the tile glaze, which can save time in cleaning glue stains and prevent many community owners from forgetting to shovel. Glue makes the masking paper hard and difficult to clean.

The proper way to apply textured paper:

Clean the surface of the ceramic tiles to ensure that the surface of the ceramic tiles is smooth and clean, leaving no water marks and dust, which may affect the stickiness of the sandpaper. The gaps along the textured paper should be gently opened. The gaps on the sides are fine, but they are not too far away and do not need to be inserted into the gaps. If you don't follow through, you can just peel it off and get it back later. Cut the appropriate length according to the size of the tiles, and do not enter at the top when encountering the cross joints to avoid sticking particles of printing paper into the gaps.

Although it is very convenient to re-attach good-looking textured paper, it can also save time in shoveling glue, but the initial paper application requires a lot of time and care. Try not to affix ceramic tiles with smooth surfaces to good-looking textured paper. Instead, use good-looking seam wax. If the construction area is small, you can choose to stick good-looking textured paper. But if the construction area is large, strong glue will not work. Will continue to knock down the masking paper immediately.
