More than 60% of electronic adhesive tapes rely on imports. Industry experts believe that there is a lot of room for the development of the adhesive tape market in the future.
Yang Xu, Secretary General of China Adhesives and Tapes Industry Association, told reporters that in 2011, my country's adhesive tape production was 14.8 billion square meters, an increase of 8.8%, and sales were 29.53 billion yuan, an increase of 9.4%. In the next few years, the domestic adhesive tape market will still have a lot of room. Among them, the annual growth rate of general products (such as BOPP adhesive tapes, PVC electrical adhesive tapes) is expected to be 4% to 5%, and the annual growth rate of a number of high-tech products such as special adhesive tapes, high-temperature resistant adhesive tapes, high-performance protective film tapes and PET adhesive tapes is expected to be 7% to 8%. The higher requirements for product characteristics and new functions of adhesive tapes in the medical and health, electronic and electrical industries will promote the in-depth development of the domestic adhesive tape industry.
Gao Qilin, deputy general manager of R&D of Siwei Enterprise Co., Ltd., said that in the growing medical equipment and consumables industry, transparent dressings, ECG electrodes, blood lipids, blood sugar and other test strips are inseparable from the application of pressure-sensitive tape. In 2010, the global wound dressing market was 11.53 billion US dollars, and by 2012, this market had reached 12.46 billion US dollars, an increase of nearly 8%. Enterprises are very optimistic about the prospects of pressure-sensitive medical tape and wound dressing industry.
Adhesive tape for electronics also plays a significant role. Xia Jianjun, a graphic designer at TCL Multimedia Global R&D Center, told reporters that the bonding materials used in televisions include sponges, rubber, glass, etc., usually solid double-sided tape. In addition to the protective film, fiberglass tape, PCB board barcode, and body film of the TV, the barcode label and advertising stickers of the outer packaging box are also inseparable from the use of adhesive tape.
In 2010, the domestic market for adhesive tapes for electronics was 5.5 million yuan, but by 2012 this figure had risen to 10 million yuan, almost doubling. The development of electronic products such as televisions and mobile phones will greatly boost the demand for upstream adhesive tapes. Domestic companies should prepare early to seize this business opportunity.
