Comparison of masking papers at home and abroad

2024-06-19

In the production process of textured tape, the base paper that is not coated with silicone or glue is called textured paper. Textured paper is a new technology decorative and spray-painted paper, which is a coated paper product with high technological content and high added value.

China's commonly used textured paper has long relied on imports. It was not until 2005 that there were reports that the Chinese market had begun to produce textured paper. At present, China's textured paper is already in industrial production.

Textured paper has good wet area strength; excellent telescopic deformability, easy to bend to a certain inclination; certain tearing, quickness, flexibility and other properties. However, domestic masking paper and masking tape still have certain problems.

By analyzing the infrared spectrum, electron microscope images, transmission electron microscope images, refining degree, and physical index values, we can draw conclusions:

The four samples are all made from bleached hardwood paddles, and their refining degrees are basically the same. The imported textured paper has longer fibers and wider fibers, and the splitting is not good; the domestic textured paper has shorter fibers, narrow fibers, more breaks, and poor splitting.

The wrinkled surfaces of the two imported samples are more delicate, with thinner wrinkles and good uniformity; while the surfaces of the domestic samples are less smooth, with more obvious wrinkles.

There is no significant difference in the compressive strength index values such as tensile strength, tearing strength, bursting strength and heat resistance of the four samples.

Compared with domestic samples, the two imported samples have the characteristics of large tightness, high air permeability, high relative height of the suction pipe, large amount of latex suction, low expansion rate, and large average diameter. These indicators affect the amount of latex absorbed during pre-soaking. Enough latex can be applied during the drying process to ensure that the masking tape has good tensile strength during use and will not be prone to separation residue. This is also the main factor that harms the quality of masking tape.
